FUN FACT!
Octopuses have three hearts and blue blood because of the oxygen being carried in their bodies.
In Grades 9 and 10, science’s biology becomes more detailed as deeper understanding is required. Here, students study about the topics listed as cell division, photosynthesis, genetics passed down from generation to generation, and different structures and functions of our own human body. These topics are explained by teachers about how organisms grow, produce energy, and how genes are passed. Another thing is students are started to be taught to independently conduct laboratories and learn more scientific vocabulary. This helps students get used to the unit.
In the Grades 11 and 12, biology focuses on real world scenarios. They learn about molecular biology, evolutions, biochemistry, and continued topics on ecosystems. In these two higher levels, skills become way more advanced while covering particular areas such as the nervous, immune, and endocrine all from the system. Students are expected to use their personal skills to improve on data and analyzing, experimentations, and other aspects. This level of biology for students in these grades are needed for preparation on behalf of students post secondary.
