CONCLUSION
Overall, English Literature is studied to help anyone and not just students to develop the skills needed of communication, critical thinking, and personal skills as we evolve. From all grades here at Palmer Secondary from 8 to 12, improvement is seen when working on understanding and improving reading comprehensions. These teach how language is important because it shapes cultures, societies, environments, and people.

In Grade 8, English Literature is studied to help students build comprehension to all the strong foundations of reading, writing, and understanding text. At this level of grade 8, students are introduced to different types the areas of literature like novels, short stories, poems, and non fiction, all for supporting ideas. Overall studying English Literature, helps students learn more and improve on their skills in expressing their thoughts and opinions. Through subjects like this of English, it will help students have an impact in the future.

In Grades 9 and 10, English Literature is studied because it benefits students to develop communication and critical thinking skills strongly. Students learn to use data and analysis and pick up on themes. Literature helps students understand other people’s perspective views, culture diversity, and experiences through evidence of texts listed and short stories. Studying this gives confidence to students while learning to pick up on themes
In Grades 11 and 12, English Literature at Palmer is studied for students preparation of post secondary after high school and any potential careers. Here, students are meant to study more complexed topics with challenges. This helps them with becoming even more familiar with the subject and different cultures, societies, and our environment. Another point of why this is so important to be studied is because it teaches young people how to use evidence as their supporting ideas, how to write precisely, and use communication skills.
