In Grade 8, Social Studies is combined with the English together called Humanities 8 which helps students develop certain competencies for instances, developing stronger critical thinking, social and communicational skills. Here, students learn about how just languages and texts influence our world today focusing mainly on historical information specifically from the 7th century to 1750 which emphasizes on conflicts such as World Wars l and ll, Cold War, and human rights.

In Grades 9 and 10, Social Studies builds on similar foundation skills learnt in their previous year of grade 8. Students study about topics that talk about the Western Civilization, conflicts, changes of political relations, and Canada's identification. Another thing they put focus on is impacts on the Indigenous people.

During the two last grades of high school in the Grades 11 and 12, Social Studies courses become more freely for students to have a variety of courses to choose from while still meeting standards of the subject. Students explore the 20th century specifically on important topics of World War l, World War ll, the Cold War, and human rights. Studying these either of these courses benefit students of expanding their skills of strong communication.
