What They Do
From Grades 8-12 in the English course at Palmer, presentations and speaking in front of everyone can sometimes be nerve wracking, however it plays such a huge part of role in yourself because this subject helps to develop different skills whether it's learning how to speak fluently in the English language, not reading off a script when presenting, or building self confidence in yourself through this course. These skills have an impact because it can be used in the future on our daily lives as we improve academically both in and outside of school which helps how we express our thoughts clearly and elaborately.
PRESENTATION & PUBLIC SPEAKING

TESTS & READING
All through Grades 8-12, writing and having tests in English like essays, reading, and quizzes are constantly being taught and learnt. These topics are often used in teaching styles for teachers as this can be used to give better understanding of our thinking, along with writing long reflective paragraphs, statements on texts, and using evidence, and proper forms. Eventually, as we get more mature in getting older, the work also starts to get more advanced which trains our minds to become independent writers, staying organized in getting work finished, and well educated.

CRITCIAL THINKING

In Grades 8-12, there are two important concepts that are part of the core competencies which are critical and creative thinking. Both these topics are constantly being worked on in class as it is an essential skill that every student needs to achieve. It is important that we form these new skills everyday as we are able to independently make decisions on our own and express what is on our minds. Being able to elaborate, reflect on our thoughts, be creative is something that can be helpful towards the future for outside of school. One thing the two concepts share in common are being expected to explore different perspectives. The difference between them are creative thinking is generative and critical thinking is analytical, meaning it is focused on taking ideas and breaking them into smaller chunks, so. that they're tasks are easier to be completed.
