In Grade 8, students focus on the basics of French. Focusing on the vocabulary, starting conversations, greetings, and foundational grammar. Another thing they study in French class is learning how to spell properly in the language and being able to pronounce the words properly with confidence.

In Grades 9 and 10, the French curriculum builds on what has happened from their previous year of Grade 8. Students use the language of French to expand their vocabulary to not only English to learn more; They do lots of reviewing to get used to the comprehension which may include reading genres of texts, having conversations with peers, presentations, or even singing songs involving words of French.

In Grades 11 and 12, students focus on their development in the more advanced skills of French working on fluency and precisement. Students read longer texts such as novels that include literacy to improve.

CONCLUSION

Overall, the French curriculum from Grades 8 to 12 through high school is designed to support students to having an open mind in learning about the process of learning another language other than English. While learning, French can be useful in and outside of school in a setting of real life situations.

FUN FACT!

The French word for 80 is "quatre- vingts," which means four twenties.
