TEACHER INFORMATION

Shifting to grade 10, there are two options of courses with one of them being ’Social Studies 10' and the other being ‘Incentive Social Studies 10’. In a brief summary of the two, they share a similar concept of providing students the skills of critical and creative thinking, which consists of political institutions, political/economic, change of identity/autonomy, conflicts/discriminatory policies, and lastly Canada’s economic development and of our role in this economy globally. The differences between them are learning about slightly different topics. Social Studies 10 doesn’t do lots of research projects, while the incentive classes do plenty of researching to discuss and debate.
When students reach grade 11 and 12, Social Studies gets to a level in our learning. Explorations in Social Studies 11 is a course in this subject that grade 11 students are able to choose from besides Incentive Explorations in Social Studies 11. They each share a challenge of their own where it requires personal skills. Next, grade 12s have plenty of options of courses to choose from; 20th Century World History 12, Law 12, BC First Peoples 12, and lastly Phychology 12 which continues to help work on topics from previous years
Overall, the subject Social Studies doesn't only teach you how to be aware of our surroundings, but how important it is to be learnt whether both in or outside of school.

Social Studies is a known subject in school used to be taught for students which progressively stuck around till now that helps specifically with strengthening our development in our knowledge of communication, thinking, and personal+social core competency. This includes many aspects of learning using different texts for instance novels, short stories, poems, non fiction, and historical texts to support in our learning. Humanities 8 and Social Studies 9, start with introductions to the subject by learning topics of the Middle Ages, Renaissance, and Geography. Social Studies is highly studied not just in school, but possibly anywhere, as it is importantly used in our everyday lives for the past, present, and future. A big part about this is seeing how essential it is to be used outside of school.
