The subject Social Studies in Grade 8 is studied to help students understand different point of views of historical events and society. This also helps students grow their critical thinking skills by allowing to ask questions, have discussions with peers, and analyzing which can eventually enhance students as their role as citizens.

In Grade 9 and 10, Social Studies is studied reasonably to help students improve their understanding for these topics as did in their previous grade. These courses are designed as encouragement for students to explore the conflicts that had occurred before with an open mind. A benefit students get from studying the subject Social Studies is becoming more aware, which helps them become better educated citizens.

In Grades 11 and 12, Social Studies is studied to help students understand how the our world and society is on both global and local levels. At these two levels of the course at Palmer Secondary, topics such as systems on politics, justice, conflicts from around the world are examined by students. The purposes of these topics for students are not just to be memorized but they also study this to develop the knowledge to get familiar and use their abilities to think critically, use analyzing skills, and communicate. Students learn to view other peoples perspectives and be informed on what is happening.

CONCLUSION
Overall, Social Studies as a subject in school is studied because it helps students build their strengths with the knowledge, skills, and critical thinking needed to be engaging in these important topics of our society. It also helps students understand historical events that had happen in the past and be able to recognize the diversity in people's culture.
